About me
My name is Imogen and I founded The Little Yorkshire Speech Co in 2023. I qualified as a therapist in 2016 after completing my masters in Clinical Communication Studies at The University of Sheffield. Previously I had completed an undergraduate degree in Human Communication Sciences and a post graduate diploma in speech difficulties. I am HCPC registered and a member of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists.
I work with families and schools to provide highly personalised and engaging therapy to children aged 18 months-18. I specialise in Speech Sound Difficulties, Developmental and early Language Delay, Stammering and Autism.
What sets my service aside, is that if I am working with your child, then I am invested in their progress and your family. I pride myself on client communications, a frustration often felt between families and professionals. If we work together, we really work together. A joint therapist and family approach is vital to progress in speech and language skills.
My therapy approach is child led and neuro-affirming. I do not provide compliance based therapy and I will keep it as play based as possible, as this is how children learn best! Speech therapy is meant to be something your child loves, not something to dread each week.
My number one language development tip is read to your child! Did you know that children who are read to daily by age 5 have been exposed to approximately 1.4 million more words than those not exposed to books!
